Ira Rubin pleads guilty to US black friday poker charges

It is always interesting when i am representing clients that are not “known” in the online gambling regulated market (I can cite a few countries in Europe.. anyways, you know which ones i am talking about right ?)

Regulators always seem to think that my clients are or not fit for Gambling, or Criminal (even when these are land based casinos)

Of course, “big companies”, such as Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars do not have any problem to get regulated license (Known names, lots of cash and resources). Oddly enough these companies are accused to set up off shores companies, to take US players money in poker room! OF course I really think US poker players should be able to play – But still, that’s the Irony: not connected, not too much cash, and not a big name? No regulated license. Big cash, Big name and wanted by the FBI ? Please take your license now, Mr ! It’s one of the unfair part of regulated countries, Regulators are not acting as they should.

Anyways, IRA Rubin that set up offshore companies for PokerStars, Fulltilt Poker and Absolute Poker will pleaded guilty Tuesday on conspiracy charges in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. His sentencing has been set for May 17th. He is indicted with nine counts :

– Three counts of violation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act

– Conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud

– Conspiracy to commit money laundering

– Three counts of operation of an illegal gambling business

He will faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted of all charges.

You simply do not want to be him right now!
